About Bernice Cooke Artist

Bernice Cooke is an Irish visual artist whose work explores place, memory, history, and the stories carried through landscape and portraiture.

Working primarily in pen, watercolour, charcoal and pencil, Bernice’s practice is rooted in observation, intuition, and emotional connection. Her work often draws inspiration from heritage, architecture, forgotten histories, and the enduring presence of people and places shaped by time.

While her earlier work focused on architectural subjects and Irish landmarks, her recent practice has evolved into portraiture and figurative work — exploring identity, resilience, and untold stories. Through traditional techniques and a deep sensitivity to light, atmosphere and detail, she seeks to create work that feels both intimate and timeless.

Based in County Galway, Bernice works from her home studio while continuing to develop new collections inspired by Ireland’s landscapes, history, and inner worlds of memory and imagination.
