Commission Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing to commission an original artwork from Bernice Cooke Artist.

Every commission is created with great care, attention to detail and close collaboration with each client. These terms and conditions are intended to ensure that the commission process is clear, straightforward and enjoyable for everyone involved.

By placing a commission, you are confirming that you have read and accepted the following terms.

Commission Process

Every commission begins with a conversation about your ideas and requirements.

To begin work, I require:

  • A clear, high-resolution reference photograph.
  • Any information you would like me to know about the subject or property.
  • Details of any particular features you would like included or emphasised.

If you are unsure whether your photograph is suitable, please feel free to email it to me before placing your commission.

Where appropriate, a digital preview may be provided before completion, allowing for minor amendments.

Turnaround Time

Most commissions are completed within approximately one week.

Larger, more detailed or multiple-subject commissions may require additional time.

If your artwork is required for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, retirement or another special occasion, please let me know when booking and I will always do my very best to accommodate your deadline.

Pricing

Prices vary depending on the size, complexity and medium of the artwork.

Current guide prices are available on the relevant commission pages.

If you require a bespoke quotation, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Payment

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required before work begins.

The deposit secures your booking and covers the time and preparation involved in creating your artwork.

The remaining balance becomes due once the completed artwork has been approved and must be paid in full prior to collection, delivery or dispatch.

Payment may be made by bank transfer or PayPal.

Instalment options may be available by prior arrangement.

Delivery & Collection

Original artwork will be carefully packaged for collection or delivery once full payment has been received.

Free postage is available within Ireland unless otherwise stated.

International shipping can be arranged at an additional cost.

Storage

Completed artwork should be collected or delivery arranged promptly after notification that the commission has been completed and payment has been received.

If you request that completed artwork be stored following completion of the commission, storage arrangements should be agreed in advance.

While every reasonable care will be taken, I cannot accept responsibility for the long-term storage of completed artwork unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Copyright & Image Usage

I retain the copyright to all original artwork unless it has been expressly assigned in writing.

The purchase of an original artwork does not transfer copyright, intellectual property or reproduction rights.

I reserve the right to photograph, document, reproduce and publish images of completed commissioned artwork for my portfolio, website, social media, exhibitions, competitions, publications and other promotional purposes.

This allows me to showcase my work and demonstrate the quality and range of commissions I undertake.

Confidentiality

If you require your commission to remain confidential, or wish to restrict the public use of images of the completed artwork, this must be discussed and agreed in writing before work begins.

Any confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement (NDA) must be agreed before the commencement of the commission.

Requests for confidentiality made after work has commenced or been completed may require separate negotiation and agreement.

Client Approval

Every effort is made to ensure that commissioned artwork accurately reflects the agreed reference material and your requirements.

Minor amendments can usually be accommodated during the approval stage.

Significant changes requested after work has substantially progressed may require additional time and may incur an additional charge.

Cancellation Policy

The initial deposit is non-refundable once work has commenced, as it covers the time, planning and preparation invested in your commission.

If a commission is cancelled after work has begun, any completed artwork remains the property of Bernice Cooke Artist unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Questions

If you have any questions about the commission process, I will always be happy to discuss them before work begins.

My aim is to make commissioning an original artwork an enjoyable and rewarding experience from start to finish.
