“Overlooked: Portraits in Pencil”

“Overlooked: Portraits in Pencil” presents a small series of drawings inspired by archival photographs of Native American people. Each portrait is an act of quiet attention — an attempt to honour the presence and dignity of individuals who often appear in history only as anonymous figures. Working in graphite and charcoal, I draw slowly, letting the image emerge through tone and texture. These pieces are less about representation than about recognition: a moment to pause, look closely, and acknowledge the humanity that endures beyond the photograph.
