Clonony Castle - Pen, Watercolour and Ink Original Painting
Located between the River Brosna and the Grand Canal, Clonony is a tiny village one mile west of Cloghan and four miles east of Banagher.
Situated in this tiny village is a castle of the same name.
Clonony Castle is a Tudor style castle built by the MacCoughlan family in the 1500’s.
A perfect example of a Tower House, this castle stands at 15 metres in height, surrounded by a bawn wall, a formal entrance, a number of smaller towers and the ruins of a church in one corner. The castle also has all the features of a tower house including murder hole, base batter, mural passages, spiral staircase, gun loops, round - headed, ogee - headed, and flat - headed windows, as well as garderobes.
Did you know that it was the first place in Ireland where the firing of muskets was first practised.
Crafted with pigment ink fine liner pens and a blend of watercolour pencils and paint, this original image is a testament to the artist's skill and dedication.
