Discover the storied past of the Portumna Dominican Friary, a historic site that traces its origins back to the 13th Century. Initially erected by the Cistercian monks of Dunbrody Abbey in County Wexford, this architectural gem has witnessed centuries of change. After being abandoned by the monks, the O'Madden Family took possession of the land and generously granted it to the Dominican Friars, who established the abbey in 1426, dedicating it to St Mary and Saints Peter and Paul. In the 18th century, the Friary underwent a transformation, being converted into a Protestant church.

This rich history is beautifully captured in the original artwork, skillfully drawn using pigment ink fine liner pens, watercolor pencils, and paint. The technique employed by the artist brings to life the essence and intricate details of this historic site.

Presented as a limited edition print, this artwork is produced on Archival Hahnemuhle Fine Art paper with professional light-fast inks, ensuring longevity and vibrant colors.

Each print is a testament to the artist's vision, individually titled, numbered, and personally signed by Bernice Cooke. Please note that the print is sold unmounted and unframed, offering you the flexibility to display it as you wish. For its protection during shipping, the print is carefully rolled and sent in a postal tube.
