St. Brendan's Cathedral, Clonfert, Co. Galway, Ireland. Pen and Watercolor Original Painting.
St. Brendan the Navigator established a monastery here in the 6th century. Reputed to have had over 3000 monks coming to learn and worship. This Cathedral is known for its finely carved Romanesque doorway dating from the 1200's.
When St. Brendan died in 584 he was buried there hence why there was an elaborate building erected in his honor. If you explore inside you will see the hidden symbols of the sea, possibly a nod to his days as an explorer.
This painting measures 12" x 16" and is framed.
